Approach

Workshop For Architecture, established in 2003, is a collaborative design and research studio. Our practice is supported by individuals engaged in critical discourse, attempting to sort out variables that make each project unique. Curiosity and discipline fuel our process.

Clients provide the core direction and intentions for projects, but we believe these factors must accommodate meaningful currents of our times. Cultures evolve, new sciences allow new attitudes and economic models reprioritize what is valuable. Our larger project is to resonate with what we see, think and feel in the present future.

Still, within this framework we remain respectful of "how" we execute the built work. The correct materiality of a concept in substance and form is not about many options, but about thoughtful and poetic judgments. In this way, projects avoid the novel and exist instead as objects or environments with their own moving, coherent visual language.

Recently, as a means to these interests, we established Workshop For Construction Inc. in 2008. As the "build" side to our practice, our joint company oversees and manages the construction of our projects ensuring that our intentions become reality.
