Back to Project
There were several technically challenging details in this project.
The ceiling is a floating acoustic drywall structure. One of the main concerns of the client was to reduce the sounds of his upstairs neighbors. Throughout the loft, spring loaded hangers hold a ceiling that is isolated from the building structure. By the owner's account, the sound level has decreased 40%.
The mirror in the master bath was conceived as a way to get light on the face without a harsh, direct light source. The light passing through the etched glass puts a diffuse light on the user. The floating mirror was an homage to our interest in Dan Graham's work.
